CNC Punching FAQs

What are the benefits of using a CNC metal punching machine?

  • Increased productivity, more accessible and faster set-up, more consistent quality, less wear on tools, and better utilization of materials.

  • Speed and accuracy: These machines can produce parts very quickly and with a high degree of accuracy. For instance, they can help to reduce set-up times, increase the consistency of quality, and reduce wear on tools.

  • Efficiency: They can help to reduce the amount of material waste and increase the utilization of materials.

  • Safe and cost effective: These machines are very safe to use and can help to save money on production costs.

What industries use punch press tooling?

  • Punch press tooling is used in a variety of different industries.

  • These include the automotive industry, electronics industry, medical industry and food and beverage industries. They can also be used in architecture for creating metal roofs and other structures.

How does sheet metal CNC turret punch work?

The working process of a sheet metal turret punch is similar to that of a regular punch press.

First, a flat metal sheet is loaded onto the bed of the machines and help in place by clamps.

The machine typically has two forms of tooling: punches and dies. These typically punch out the materials in all shapes and forms.

The punch pushes the material through the die with a 0.2mm clearance, the die clearance normally depends on the thickness of material that is being processed.

On top of this we can utilize the machine to extrude, tap and form small details.

As well as part picking its own parts, the machine can still process the sheets. We would recommend using a punch up to around 3mm thick in material. Anything after that we would use a laser instead.

The size and shape of the profiles will differ depending on the type of tools that is required to punch out the shape.

After the profile has been punched, the piece of material gets pushed through the bottom of the die,

which then drops on to a conveyor unit. This is then loaded directly into a skip and recycled accordingly.

What CNC punching machine tools are required for cutting sheet metal?

  • There are a variety of different CNC punching machine tools that are required for cutting sheet metal.

  • These include a punch press, a laser cutter, and a waterjet cutter.

Cluster tools, save money by reducing the CNC punching time.

  • These tools can punch multiple holes at the same time.

Engraving tools. It is a great solution for identifying sheet metal parts that are used for spares.

What are the uses of CNC punching machine tools?

  • CNC machine tools are used for a variety of different applications. These include cutting, drilling, and shaping metal.

  • Cutting: CNC machine tools can be used to cut a variety of different materials, including aluminium, stainless steel, and brass.

  • Drilling: CNC machine tools can be used to drill holes into metal. This is often done for industrial applications, such as creating parts for cars or aeroplanes.

  • Forming: CNC machine tools can be used to shape metal. This is often done for architectural applications, such as creating metal roofs or other structures.
